Pine Forest community is located just east of Bastrop, Tx on Highway 71. This subdivision is one of the oldest communities in Bastrop and was also one of the hardest hit by the Bastrop County Wild Fires in 2011. Remarkably this Bastrop county treasure is recovering quite nicely and remains a favorite community for many residents that live in and around the area.
A number of the houses that were completely destroyed by the fires have been rebuilt with much larger custom built homes. Graduate students at the University of Texas came in and working tirelessly to replant the pine forest in Bastrop County that was devastating by wildfires. They successfully removed a large number of the burned trees and replaced them with Lob Lolly Pines that Bastrop is well know for.
